Theater Basics

August 13

Ages 9+:  9 am - 4 pm (with lunch break), $70

​​Do you have what it takes to audition for a musical theater show? Do you have a love for musicals and want to explore that field a bit more? Or do you just want to try something new? Join Pittsburgh actress and choreographer, Alex Manalo, for a full day of all things musical! This workshop will consist of introductory acting exercises, singing, and learning dance cuts from a musical!

Yoga for Flexibility (session 1)

July 9

Ages 4-7:  noon - 12:45 pm, $10

Join this class as we go on a yoga adventure and explore yoga poses through games and stories.

Ages 8-11:  10:30 am - 11:30 am, $15

We will balance, twist, bend, and stretch as we explore yoga poses and sequences that challenge our bodies to find new shapes!

Ages 12+:  9 am - 10:30 am, $20

In this class, participants will be guided by guest instructor and OOHM alum Briel Beatty as they explore the mobility of their joints and work towards deeper extension and alignment in movement.  While the class will be aimed at achieving a full-body stretch, there will be a focus on hips and legs.

Creating in Collaboration

July 19 - July 22

Ages 12+:  9 am - noon, $120

Devising is when a group of artists work together during the creation process to create choreography.  This is done through improvisations that are edited into final choreography.  Devising is an ensemble-driven creation process in place of having a choreographer who makes all of the choices.  This workshops, led cooperatively by Almanac Company member/OOHM alum Lauren Johns and OOHM Artistic Director Michelle Ed, will offer a look into what it means to be a devising ensemble.  The spirit of play is essential when creating with others.  As creators is an ensemble we will learn to listen, respond, and work cooperatively.  For dance artists, this workshop will offer tools of composition and play which can unlock the freedom to explore beyond technical virtuosity.  These explorations will be paired with exercises in improvisation, leading to unique individual and collective creations.  By the end of of the workshop, dancers will feel empowered to make creative choices in an ensemble, and create beyond the boundaries of demonstrating skill to say something meaningful with their bodies.  Appropriate for all bodies and skill levels.  Time will also be spent working to recreate a past work of the out of his mind Repertoire Company.


Acrobatic Roots

*Registration for this class is based on skill, not age.  Dancers must be a minimum of 8 years old.

June 25

10 am - 11:30 am, $20​:  Acro Basics

In this class, dancers will be given training to launch themselves into a summer of productive growth!  Taught by guest instructor Liz Brady,  students will be guided through exercises that will improve the five fundamentals of acrobatics:  strength, flexibility, balance, limbering, and tumbling.  In this session, dancers will be introduced to and improve the foundational acrobatic elements, including backbends, headstands, handstands, and cartwheels.  This class is appropriate for students of all abilities.  Dancers must be a minimum of 8 years old.


11:30 am - 1 pm, $20:  Walkovers and Variations

Led by guest instructor Liz Brady, dancers will explore the limitless variations of fundamental acrodance skills:  the walkover and cartwheel.  In addition to learning new variations on the traditional acrodance tricks, students will be given conditioning exercises to help them strongly and consistently execute these foundational skills.  This lively class will open dancers' eyes to the many exciting ways that acrobatics can be incorporated into any style of dancing!  To participate in this class, dancers must have their standing backbend without a spot (down and recover).

Down by the Seaside

August 2 - August 5
Ages 3-6:  5:30pm-6:30pm, $50
Dive right into an aquatic themed camp for the youngest dancers!  Each day will have a themed costume, craft, snack and of course dance!

What is Lyrical Dance?

July 16

Ages 9-12:  noon - 2 pm, $25

Do you love the expressive qualities of ballet and the athletic nature of jazz?  Ever wondered what would happen if you combined the two styles?  You can!  Taught by OOHM alum, Delainey Warshel, this class will focus on exploring traditional lyrical dance, an art form that relates closely to the music it is being performed to.  This class will help you to dive deeper into how to convey a story with your body.

Dance at the Castle
June 28th - July 1st

Ages 3-6:  5:30 pm - 6:30 pm, $50

Join us for some Royally good times!!  Each day will feature a dress-up theme, craft, snack, and of course..... dancing!!

Adventures in Dance

Ages 7-12: 9 am - noon,  $120

This is a great camp for someone who wants to try a variety of dance styles.  Each day will be an adventure... sampling Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Acro!

Competition vs. College

July 16

Ages 12+:  9 am - noon, $30

Have you danced your entire life by do not have the desire to pursue it as a career or a college major?  During this workshop, we will dive deeper into the aspects of what connects us to dance and how we can still move when we graduate from our home studio.  Taught by OOHM alum Delainey Warshal, this class will bring light to the fundamental differences between collegiate movement and the competition world.  The class will include an open discussion about the many options of moving forward and carrying on your love of dance after high school.  This class is appropriate for any dancer beginning to consider their life after high school.

Dancing Divas

August 16 - August 19

Ages 7-11:  9 am - noon, $120

​​Led by OOHM faculty, Nelle Kearney, this four-day jazz and acrobatics dance party will feature music from some of pop’s most iconic divas! We’ll be learning dances, designing and creating costumes, and being all-around fabulous! This camp is appropriate for divas and rockstars of all abilities.

Ballet Essentials

August 2 - August 5

Ages 8-11:  9 am - 10 am, $50

Ages 12+:  10 am - 11:30 am, $70

This is an ideal class for the trained dancer, as well as as an older student who is interested in starting late!  Vocabulary and basic barre skills will be the focus.

Modern 101

July 26 - July 29

Ages 11-18:  9 am - noon, $120

​​During this class, we will discover four of the founding voices of modern dance. We will explore each of their unique movement styles, watch their work, discuss how their style has impacted the development of dance history, and embody some of their choreography! This class is led by OOHM faculty, Nelle Kearney.

This energetic class will focus on jazz funk and contemporary hip hop choreography. Throughout the four-day class, dancers

will be taught how to perform to a camera, become comfortable in front of the lens, and learn techniques to safely utilize social media for pre-professional exposure. This high-energy week will be taught by OOHM alum and Miss Dance of PA 2020, Skyler Hostetler.

Contemporary Exploration

July 12th - July 15th

Ages 8-11:  5 pm - 6:30 pm, $70

Ages 12+:  9 am - noon, $120

Join guest artist, Kylee Killian for a four-day exploration into contemporary dance. This camp will combine contemporary movement, improvisation, dance composition, and creative processes to help dancers deepen their artistry and authenticity within their dance training. We will develop tools throughout the week to launch each dancer’s individual journey of their movement exploration.


Branching Out in Ballet

July 5th - July 8th

Intermediate:  9 am - 10:30 am, $70

Advanced:  10:30 am - 12:30 pm, $70

By bringing a classical ballet variation to life, dancers will advance both their technique and their expressive capabilities.  Led by guest instructor, Sierra Gdula, participants will learn how to transform and invigorate their classroom technique into compelling, stage-ready performances.


Presence of the Performer

July 23

Ages 12+:  9 am - 3 pm (with lunch break), $70

​​How can aspiring dance artists move from technical mastery to creating compelling performances? What can a dance piece express to an audience beyond the virtuosity of the performer? This workshop is a crash-course in performative presence and character development for dance artists that will not only make them feel more at ease on stage and more able to connect with an audience, but also ask them to think deeply about the performative possibilities of their craft.  It will introduce participants to the foundations of physical theatre, opening up expressivity, presence, humor, and vulnerability inside of performance. Students can come with any level of experience and be guided with specifically-tailored exercises no matter where they are in the creative process. This workshop will be lead by Almanac Company Member and OOHM alum, Lauren Johns.
