This program is for the serious student who wishes to give back to the studio while being mentored in leadership skills, particularly in the dance classroom. Students who are interested must apply for the job with a written application. After the adult staff has determined who will enter the program the participants sign contracts outlining expectations. The students are assigned classes in which to assist. They aid the teacher with bathroom runs, music operations, holding hands, blowing noses and eventually leading small portions of class to develop confidence in front of a group. These helpers are rewarded with pay “vouchers” to be used towards tuition and participation in a staff dance in the year end recital. Junior teachers receive solos for the recital.
